Why did my steps count as zero points and state "points cannot be awarded for this activity"?  They are steps

I have steps every day, connected via FitBit as it has been for the past few years.  Recently I have been having issues with my steps calculating properly.  While I'm still missing steps from a few weeks ago, I have one particular day that awarded me 0 steps and says points cannot be awarded for this activity.  They are steps - over 16,000 steps - and I am not receiving credit for them.  I have no idea why?
